The Crown and City had similar interests and needed eachother. The king promoted trade and patronage in city's favour while the city provided loans in 1635
City of London was put on trial for not trading sufficient people to settle in Londonderry. Thus, it lost its Irish lands and was fined £70,000 -public humiliation
