• plants do not grow well in sandy soil because it has a low water-holding capacity

• loam soil is great for plants because it has a good water holding capacity and it is well aerated
• acid substances have a pH scale less than 7
• alkaline substances have a pH scale less more than 7
• neutral substances have a pH scale of 7 for example, water
• most plants prefer slightly acidic soil
• while other plants grow well in acid soil
• some plants like blueberries need an acidic environment to thrive
