• October 21, 1969 - HPC General Staff Memo No.8 PCSIASO renamed to PC Supervisory Unit for Security and Investigation Agencies (PCSUSIA)
• January 1, 1991, PCSOSIA was renamed Supervisory Office for Security and Investigation Agencies (SOSIA)
• June 1, 1995 - PNP SOSIA was renamed Security Agencies and Guards Supervision Division (SAGSD)
• Natural Authority is the instinctive reaction of humans to protect themselves.
• Constitutional Authority is granted by Art. II, Sec. 4 of the Constitution which pertains to military civil service.
• Art. III, Sec. 1 of the Constitution states that no person shall be deprived of liberty.
• Art. III, Sec. 9 of the Constitution protects private property from being taken for public use without just compensation.
• Art. III, Sec. 2 of the Constitution guarantees the right of the people to be secure against unreasonable search and seizures, and no search warrant or warrant of arrest shall be issued.
• The Revised Penal Code (Act No. 3815) is a statutory authority.
• The Private Security Agency Law (RA 5487) is a statutory authority.
• Presidential Decree No. 11, which amends RA 5487, is a statutory authority.
• Presidential Decree No. 100, which amends 5487 and PD 11, is a statutory authority.
• Security as an Occupation - many security personnel are in this field because of survival reason.

• Security Management - is a tool that is protective in nature defined by many as the act of decentralizing basic security functions across the organization.
• Security management is defined as the efficient use of resources and effective implementation of system and technology.
• Security Leadership is all about educating people and employees about security and planting in their minds the importance of security in the culture of organization.
• Security management is all about the development and implementation of meaningful security processes.
• Security Leadership is all about the creation of strategy to be able to manage the security well.
• Leadership in Security - To become a leader in the filed of security, one should stay out of his comfort zone and practice continuous learning which involves listening to internal and external sources to keep the security program up-to-date and advanced.

• Security as Force Multiplier - as active partner of law enforcement forces, security serves as multiplier of the basic responsibilities in terms of preventing the development or reasons of crime.
• Security as Fast-Growing Career - it helps the government in providing employment opportunity.
• Security as Generalist - security performs various roles such as loss prevention agent, protection agent, investigator, traffic enforcer and fire fighters among others.
• Security is a state or quality, condition of being secured, freedom from fear, harm, danger, loss or damages, to secure is to make safe or be protected.
• Active Measures are the physical barriers, security lighting, use of vaults, locks and others.
• Passive Measures are those that will prevent man from committing such acts for fear of being caught.

• Physical Security - this is the broadest brach of security which concerned with the physical measures adopted to prevent unauthorized access.
• Personnel Security - state even before the hiring of an employee and remains to be maintained as long as the person is employed.
• Document and Information Security - this involves the protection of documents and classified paper.
