Sex determination

• Chromosomes in DNA determine sex
• males - sex chromosomes XY
• Female- sex chromosomes X/X (the same)
• All cells in body (apart from gametes) contain 46 chromosomes and one pair (from mum and dad each) determines sex
• All eggs carry an X chromosome and sperm carries an X OR Y chromosome so ultimately the male determines sex
