• Mola had arranged an alliance with the Falange and Carlists to aid him in his uprising
• Gil-Robles donated 500,000 pesetas to the army and instructed CEDA leaders to join with the military
• Failure of Mola's Coup:

  1. It faced considerable resistance in areas where trade unions were strong, especially in major cities like Madrid
  2. Civil Guards remained loyal to the Republic and resisted the military
  3. The Nationalists were geographically divided in the north and south
