• Social relations present within Ray's gang forms a hierarchy between individuals where Ray is the leader followed by his managers and then their workers. However even though Bourgois does not manage any of Ray's establishments he is considered above others in the hierarchy as he is white and educated shown when Ray gave him a 'Heineken' instead of the cheaper beer hence showing his status allowing him to fit in society.
