  • The World Health Organization (WHO) defines physical activity as any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles that requires energy expenditure including activities undertaken while working, playing, carrying out household chores, travelling, and engaging in recreational pursuits.
  • The term "physical activity" should not be confused with "exercise", which is a subcategory of physical activity that is planned, structured, repetitive, and aims to improve or maintain one or more components of physical fitness.
  • PHYSICAL FITNESS refers to the capacity of an individual to complete effectively and efficiently his daily activities and tasks without undue fatigue, and has extra energy to do recreational activities
  • Physical Fitness Components are divided into two: Health-related and skill-related component
  • Cardiovascular endurance is the ability to perform exercises at moderate-to vigorous intensities for a prolonged period of time.
  • Muscular strength is how much force your muscles can exert or how heavy weights they can lift.
  • Muscular endurance is the ability of your muscles to sustain exercise for a period of time.
  • Flexibility - the ability to move muscles and joints through a full range of motion.
  • Body composition refers to our physical feature of our body. It includes our height, weight, and BMI.
  • BODY MASS INDEX is a weight-to-height ratio, calculated by dividing one's weight in kilograms by the square of one's height in meters and used as an indicator of obesity and underweight.
  • >18.5 - underweight
    18.5-24.9- Normal
    25-29.9- overweight
    30-34.9- obese
    35<- extremely obese
  • FORMULA OF BMI = Weight/Height^2
  • Agility is the ability to stop, start and change directions and position of the body quickly and effectively while under control.
  • Speed is the ability to move limbs rapidly or cover a distance in a short period of time.
  • Balance is the ability to control or stabilize the body when a person is standing still or moving.
  • Power is the ability to exert maximal force or muscle strength in as short time as possible.
  • Coordination - is the ability to use all senses at the same time while performing. Is the ability to select the right muscle at the right time with proper intensity to achieve proper action
  • Reaction time Is the ability of an individual to react or respond to a stimulus quickly
