Serotonin

• Serotonin is an inhibitory neurotransmitter which slows down the rate of neural activity.
• Normal levels of serotonin in the orbitofrontal cortex leads to a reduced neuron firing rate, which allows for a greater degree of behavioural self control.
• Reduced serotonin means less self-control, which leads to more impulsivity, leading to more aggression.
