• multiplying indices : add the indice number e.g.

  2^5 x 3^4 = 6^9
• dividing indices : subtract them

  6^14 / 2^7 = 3^7
• negative indices mean you flip the fraction e.g.

  • 1/2^-1 = 2
  • 3^-3 = (1/3)^3 = 1/27
• fractional indices mean you have to root it e.g

  36^1/2 = √ 36 = 6
