Sociological Views of Culture

• Marxists believe that culture justified inequality, and culture is down to the equality of society
• Functionalists believe society is a system run by many parts, it will come together as a whole when everyone functions together
• Feminists believe society should be equal with genders and would be a better place if it was
• Social Action Theorists believe people's behaviour doesn't affect them socially, its more so them individually (culture affects the person individually)
• Postmodernists:

  • Believe humans exist to serve culture, and not the other way around
  • Cultures can be plagues of society, not entities that serve us
