  • Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q) is filled out by PE learners for the teacher to assess their physical activity level or background

  • Essentials in Physical Activity:
    • Water Bottle: Bring a water bottle filled with water for outdoor activities to prevent dehydration
    • Dehydration is the process of losing fluid from the body due to insufficient intake, caused by physical activities, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, alcohol, diabetes, or failure to drink water
    • Common signs of dehydration include thirst, dry mouth, dark colored urine, fatigue, dizziness, confusion, and headache

    • Body Composition: Relative percentage of muscle, fat, bone, and other tissues in the body
    • Muscular Strength: Maximal force generated by specific muscles
    • Muscular Endurance: Ability of muscles to sustain repeated contractions over time
    • Flexibility: Ability for joints to move through their full range of motion
    • Power: Ability to move body parts swiftly with maximum force
  • Skill Related Fitness:
    • Speed: Ability to move fast with strength for power and force
    • Agility: Ability to change body position and direction quickly
    • Balance: Ability to maintain body equilibrium
    • Body Coordination: Ability to use senses and body parts together during movement
    • Reaction Time: Ability to respond quickly to stimuli
  • Phases of Exercise:
    • Warm-up: Prepares the body for exercise, gradually increases heart rate, flexibility, and protects against injury
    • Conditioning: Exercise that produces fitness benefits like calorie burning, endurance building, or muscle strengthening
    • Cool Down: Ends exercise session with recovery time, gradually decreases physical activity to return body to normal
    • Pugay: Greeting in Arnis done before and after sessions, practices, or activities in three different ways
  • Arnis:
    • Indigenous Filipino martial art characterized by swinging, twirling, striking, thrusting, and parrying techniques
    • Remy Amador Presas founded Modern Arnis and revitalized Arnis as a cultural treasure
    • Arnis was acknowledged as the Philippine National Sports and Martial Arts
