photosynthesis

Cards (6)

  • Temperature is an important factor that affects the rate of photosynthesis, as it influences the activity of enzymes involved in the process.
  • Temperature has an impact on the rate of photosynthesis. The rate of photosynthesis increases as the temperature rises, meaning it increases on hot days. The loss of water through the stomata is known as transipiration. If the temperature is too hot, the stomata closes off to prevent water loss. When the stomata closes off, this leads to a reduced C02 intake, then leading to a reduction and finally stoppage of photosynthesis as C02 is needed for photosynthesis.
  • Light intensity also plays a role in determining the rate of photosynthesis. As light intensity increases, so does the rate of photosynthesis up until a certain point where there are no more chlorophyll molecules available to absorb light energy. This maximum rate of photosynthesis is called saturation point.
  • Photosynthesis is the process by which plants convert sunlight into glucose (C6H12O6) using carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O).
  • What is the chemical + word equation for photosynthesis?
    Word equation : Carbon dioxide + water -> Glucose + Oxygen
    Chemical symbol equation : CO2 + H2O -> C6H12O6 + O2
    = 6CO2 + 6H2O -> C6H12O6
  • What is the independent, dependent and control variable
    Independent - Change
    Dependent - Measure
    Control - Keep the same
