  • The Reich Chamber of Culture was responsible for controlling Nazi cultural life. Within this, there were 7 other chambers including the Reich Chamber of Radio, Music and Film
  • Press Censorship:
    1. All journalists had to be members of the Reich Chamber of the Press
    2. Goebbels created the German News Agency which merged various news agencies under government control
    3. The Nazi publishing company Eher Verlag bought up existing newspapers. As a result, the number of Nazi-owned papers increased from 2.5% in 1933 to 82% in 1945
  • As German newspapers became dull and boring, there was a 10% drop in newspaper sales between 1933 and 1939
  • Cultural Censorship:
    1. The film industry was heavily censored and used to spread the Nazi's propaganda message
    2. By 1942 all film companies became state-owned and monitored by the Reich Film Chamber
    3. All artists were required to become members of the appropriate Reich culture chamber
