    • There are millions of people in the UK who live in poverty and cannot always afford to buy food or other essentials  
    • Some believe the only way out of this is to steal

    • Christian – Stealing is wrong but people should do what they can to help make sure nobody finds themselves in the position of having to steal because of poverty  
    • Hindu – The Bhagavad Purana say that poverty and greed destroy human virtue – crime should be tackled by an increase of personal virtue and by ensuring society is well run and prosperous

    • Some people grow up in a household where crime is a way of life  
    • A troubled upbringing might also lead a person to turn to crime

    • Christian – Parents should teach their children the right way to behave through their own actions and words 
    • Hindu – In the Bhagavad Gita 1.41 - 1.42, Arjuna alludes to how children who are unloved are more likely to behave immorally or in other socially unacceptable ways
