  • olaudah equino- made the trip at 11 years, later bought freedom, he wrote a book about the middle passage
  • manny africans died from disease or from cruel tratment and others committed suicide
  • once africans arrived in america they were sold at auctions
  • over time europeans came to associate slavery with black africans
