  • Etiology: may be due to joint tissue lesions, overbite, malocclusion, or improperly fitted dentures or dental work. 
  • Symptoms: Severe headaches and pain in the jaw joint.Inability to open mouth and a clicking sound during chewing.
  • Diagnosis: exam of the mouth with dental x-rays, Ct scan, or MRI scan that can help. 
  • Treatment: correction of the causative factors, leading to surgical intervention.
  • Prevention: controlling/eliminating causative factors.
