The heart is the organ that pumps blood around the body.
The nervous system is made of the nerves, spinalcord, brain
Central Nervous system is made of the brain and spinal cord
Nervous system is made of the Central Nervous system and Peripheral nervous system
Peripheral nervous system makes up the nerves outside the Central Nervous System.
Peripheral Nervous System made up of 2 Systems. Somatic and Autonomic system
Autonomic Nervous System is made of 2 systems. Sympathetic and Parasympathetic nervous system
Sympathetic Nervous System is your fight or flight reflexes. Increases heart rate.
Parasympathetic nervous system is the rest and digest system. It is the opposite of the sympathetic nervous system. Decreases heart rate.
How does the blood keep moving?
Musculatory system - muscles contract to increase pushing force to keep blood moving Valves - open and close to prevent blood from going backwards (when muscles contract) Breathing - Movements cause pressure in veins in chest
Arteries - carry oxygenated blood AWAY from the heart.
Capillaries - point of exchange, takes nutrients from the blood
ex: oxygen and carbon dioxide
Veins - carry deoxygenated blood TO the heart.
How does your cells obtain nutrients and dispose wastes?
Obtain - blood transports nuterients to cells, capillaries take wastes to the cell membrane
Dispose - through cell membrane back through the capillaries; opposite way from obtaining
Respiratory System - supplying oxygen to body cells and removes carbon dioxide.
Diaphragm - contracts and moves down to breathe in, relaxes and moves up to breathe out
Air passes through the: 1/ nose or mouth 2/ pharynx 3/ Larynx 4/ Epiglottis 5/ Trachea 6/ Bronchi 7/ Alveoli
