  • Art appreciation:
    • Recognition of a work of art from an objective point of view – its physical attributes and formal constructions
    • Combines physical attributes with subjective statements based on viewer’s reaction to the work
  • Expression:
    • Ability to convey meaning through writing
    • Involves low-level skills such as spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and grammar
    • Also involves high-level composition skills such as planning, organization, determining content, and revision to express information effectively
  • Imagination:
    • Ability to produce and simulate novel objects, people, and ideas in the mind without any immediate input of the senses
