Inverse Proportion

• Whenever the product of 2 variables is the same, we say the variables are inversely proportional
• In symbols:

  • Y a 1/X
• The graph will be a decreasing curve (Hyperbola)
• If 2 variables are inversely proportional then:

  • As x increases in size, y will decrease in size
  • As x decreases in size, y will increase in size
