  • Person Analysis – determining which employees needs training and in which areas
    1. Performance Appraisal Scores – the easiest method of needs analysis
    • 1-5 point scale that indicates a range from unsatisfactory to outstanding in each of the defined categories
  • Survey – asks the employees what knowledge and skills they believe should be included in the future training
    • Common method: Questionnaire
  • Interviews – can yield even more in-depth answers to questions about training needs
  • Skill and Knowledge Tests – few tests are available for this purpose, expensive and time-consuming
    • Measures the skill and knowledge of an employee related to thier job.
  • Critical Incidents – sorted into dimensions and separated into examples of good and poor performance
    • observations of human behavior in such a way as to facilitate their potential usefulness
