  • What is homeostasis?
Homeostasis is the maintenance of a constant internal environment in order to maintain optimum condition for the enzymes and cellular functions
  • Give example of conditions maintained by homeostasis in the body?
Blood glucose, body temperature water levels
  • What are the two types pf responses that are used in body control system?
    Nervous and chemicals
  • What are the three component that are in control system?
    Receptor,coordinations centre,effector
  • What is the function of the receptor?

It detects the changes in the environment(stimuli).
  • What are the function of an coordinatipn centre1?
It obtains and process the information from the receptor
  • What is the function of an effector?
Effector muscle or glands bring about responses to stimuli.
  • 5.2 What is the function of an nervous system?
The function of nervous system is to all the body to react to its surroundings and coordinate and appropriate response.
  • How does an stimulus lead to a response being carried out by the body?
Stimulus is converted into an electrical impulses by the receptors. The electrical impulses passes along the sensory neurone to the central nervous system. The CNS coordinates an appropriate response and an electrical impulses is sent along the motor neurone to the effector. The effector carries out the response.
  • What order does the nervous system works?
  • What is a reflex action?
An reflex action is an automatic and rapid response which does not involve conscious from the brain.
  • Describe how a reflex action occurs in an reflex arc?
The stimulus is detached by the receptors electrical impulses passes along the sensory neurone to the spinal cord. At the synapse between an sensory neurone and relay neurone chemical diffuses across the gap and stimulates a new impulses which passes along the relay neurone. The same process across between the synapses of relay neurone and motor neurone .At the effector, an appropriate responses are carried out.
  • What is the difference between an reflex pathway and conscious pathway?
In a reflex pathway, the coordination centre is a relay neurone found in the spinal cord the unconscious part of the brain whereas the conscious pathway is the coordination centre is in the conscious part of the brain.
  • Role of a thyroid gland?
The role of an thyroid gland is that it controls metablosim, heart rate and body temperature
  • Role of pancreas?

The role of pancreas is that it produces insluin which controls the blood glucose level
  • Role of adrenal?
The role of adrenal is that it produces adrenaline which is produced in times of fear.Flight or fight. It increases heart rate and boosts the oxyen and glucose to the brain and muscle
  • Role of ovaries?

It produces oestrogen which coordinates the menstrual cycle and the development of female secondary sexual charcteristic
  • Role of testes?

secrets testosterone which coordinates the production of sperm and the developmemt of male secondary sexual characteristics
