• Radioactivity is the process which occurs when alpha particles, beta particles and gamma waves are emitted from an unstable nucleus
• Alpha particles 


  Are the helium nuclei containing two protons and two neutrons which are emitted from a radioactive nuclei
• Beta particles

  Are fast moving electrons emitted by radioactive nuclei
• Gamma radiation


  Is a high energy electromagnetic wave emitted by radioactive nuclei
• Ionising radiation

  Ions are charged atoms ( molecules). Atoms become Ions when they lose ( or gain ) electrons
