In 2000 government establishes an elected mayor in London. In 2004 a North-East assembly is held with a 78% no vote. During the coalition the idea is again introduced but only Leicester, Liverpool and Bristol elect mayors.
2017 the idea takes off as greater Manchester, west midlands, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough get mayors.
Mayors have more importance/power during lockdown (2020) as there are different tear systems.
