  • NI Act of 1998 was based on the Belfast agreement, created the assembly
  • They use STV- Single Transferable Vote. Voting by ranking a list of candidates, 4/5 people win in each are by exceeding a quota over 50%. Often creating power sharing which is important due to NIs past.
  • The DUP has 36, Sinn Fein has 27, Ulster Unionist Party has 18 and the social Democratic and labour party has 16.
  • Examples of powers Stormont has, environment and planning, enterprise, air passenger duty, pensions, culture and sport, trade and investment and transport.
  • Autism Act 2011 amended the Disability Discrimination Act of 1995 and requires an autism strategy to be prepared.
