Recycling Metals

• Metals are easy to recycle. Just melt, then recast into a new shape, with no degradation of the metal's properties.

• Alloys can be more challenging to recycle, due to extraction and seperation of metals from an alloy being difficult and costly.
• Advantages of recycling metals:

  • more economic; less energy required
  • less damage to environment
  • saves valuable raw materials
• Disadvantages of recycling metals:

  • collection and transport is more costly (organisation, works, vehicles)
  • can be difficult to sort different materials apart
