• What happens to high energy, short wavelength infrared radiation from the sun?

  It passes through the atmosphere where and reaches earths surface . Some of the radiation get absorbed by the earth
• What happens to low energy, long wavelength infrared radiation from the sun?

  It passes through the atmosphere and get reflected by the earth's surface
• How do greenhouse gases increase Earth's temperature?

  Greenhouse gases absorb outgoing infrared radiation (Radiation reflected by Earth's surface)
• Without some greenhouse gases, the Earth would be too cold for water to be a liquid and would not be able to support life
