  • Sacrament: Something people can experience with their senses but has a deeper reality to it.
  • Gospel Sacraments: Baptism and the Eucharist. Authorised by Jesus. Protestants generally only acknowledge these two sacraments.
  • List the seven sacraments:
    1. Baptism

    3. Eucharist
    4. Reconciliation (Confession),
    5. Healing
    6. Marriage
    7. Ordination.
  • Baptism: Sacrament by which God cleanses all sin, and one becomes a member of the church.
  • Eucharist: A Christian sacrament commemorating the Last Supper by consecrating bread and wine.
  • Reconciliation (Confession or Penance): A sacrament where words of absolution are said and sins are forgiven.
  • Healing: Anointing and laying of hands on a person to heal physically or spiritually. Prepares for death.
  • Ordination: Making someone a priest, bishop or deacon by the sacrament of holy orders.
  • Rights of Initiation: Catholics use this term to refer to the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist.
