Nirodha: There is an end to suffering. The end of greed, ignorance and hatred. When ignorance and craving are replaced with knowledge and fulfilment.
Nibbana
A state of complete enlightenment, happiness and peace.
Nibbana with remainder: When a Buddhist reaches nibbana during their life but their physical body remains on earth (they are alive).
Nibbana without remainder: When a Buddhist reaches nibbana on death, they escape the cycle of samsara.
Meditation
Calming the mind and focusing thoughts. Developing understanding.
Samsara: The endless cycle of birth and suffering and death and rebirth.
Bodhi
Enlightenment. Awakening. A state of knowing.
A Buddha: Someone who has woken up to the truth of existence. Is enlightened.
Traits of one who has achieved Nibbana: Completely free of the three poisons, knows the truth, knows the causes of suffering, behaves according to the five moral precepts, lives in harmony with the four noble truths.
