• Both men and women have the right to divorce

  • "hateful to Allah" - Hadith
• To divorce:

  • husband declares it verbally or in writing
  • Iddah
  • If wife is pregnant must wait for baby
• "...when any of you intend to divorce women, do so at a time when their prescribed waiting period can properly start... if you are in doubt, the period of waiting shall be three months."
• If a wife applies for divorce and the husband is not at fault then she must repay the marriage gift
• The husband must support his children in all cases
• Muslims in the UK require civil divorce:

  • Religious divorces are granted through Shar'iah law
• Considered beneficial to remarry if children are involved
