Light

Cards (10)

  • Light is a form of energy
  • Objects or bodies the transmit light of their own are known as luminous objects. ex - sun and stars
  • objects or bodies that do not transmit any light of their own are called non-luminous objects.
  • when a light ray incident on the surface of an object it is sent back into the same medium, this phenomenon is called reflection.
    • light ray traveling in a straight line from the source to a surface is known as an incident ray
    • a light ray that is bounced back from the mirror is known as reflected ray
  • the angle between the incident ray and normal at the point of incidence is known as the angle of incidence (i)
  • the angle between the reflected ray and normal at the point of incidence is known as the angle of reflection(r).
  • reflection occurs when there is no change in wavelength of light rays
  • point at which incident ray meets the surface of the object -> point of incidence
    • laws of reflection:
    • angle of incidence = angle of reflection
    • incident ray ,reflected ray and normal all lie in the same place
