• nozzle : a narrow piece fixed to the end of a tube to direct liquid gas

• dire: very serious or extreme
• calamity: a serious accident or bad event causing damage or suffering
• brine: water with salt in it, especially to preserve food
• prompt: acting quickly or arriving at the arranged time
• agitation: worry and anxiety
• fling: to throw with a lot of force
• loth: unwilling to do something
• clamber: to climb up, with difficulty, using the hands and the feet
• spent: to no longer have any power or effectiveness
• quench: to cause a fire to stop burning with water
• malicious: intended to harm or upset other people
• discoursing: communicating in speech or writing
• wretches: people who experience something unpleasant
• simpering: to smile in a silly or annoying way
• crest: a growth of feathers, fur, or skin along the top of the heads of some animals
• fender: a low mental frame around an open fireplace that stops the coal or wood from falling out
