  • Discus:
    • Do not hold the discus too tight or you will hurt yourself when you throw it
    • Do not hold the discus sideways or you will throw it upwards
    • Hold the discus downwards to avoid dropping it
    • Make sure the discus comes all the way back around you with most of the weight on your right leg
    • Stand sideways until you are about to throw the discus
    • Follow through your whole body to the direction you want to throw
  • Shot Put:
    • Put the shot put below your chin and push with strength for further distance
    • Back leg raise up and jump a little bit then spin
    • Align chin with knee and toe
    • Other hand pointing to target to aim
    • Body turns but feet do not turn
    • Knee facing forward
    • Push throw
    • Throw the ball high for a longer distance
    • Throw properly to avoid hurting your arms
    • Trying to balance yourself to avoid disqualification
  • Javelin:
    • V grip: javelin between pointing and middle finger, other fingers wrap around
    • American grip: javelin between pointing finger and thumb, other fingers wrap around
    • Finnish grip: javelin between thumb and middle finger, pointing finger raised higher up
    • Javelin lined up with eye, arms straight at the backside, legs bent
    • Javelin 35° pointed forward, torso faced sideways, head forward
    • Arms gripped in the cord grip, left leg in tiptoe position, right leg in flat foot position
    • One arm straight pointing forwards, other arm holding the cord grip straight armed
  • Long Jump:
    • Knees high when running, sprint until you see the white line, ready to spring upward, heels up
    • Sprint to the white line until jump, push legs up high in the air, tall upright position, point leg as far as possible
    • Swing arms upward, high and straight, stretch legs forward, lean forward, take a big step forward
    • Land on two feet, keep balance, walk forward to exit, land on both feet, stretch both arms and legs forward
  • Triple Jump:
    • Run, legs leaping, legs boosting, arm movements, generate enough speed
    • Remember the other phases, front leg jumping, arms, do the first phase (hop), arms swinging, front leg ankle facing front
    • Do phase 2 (step), arms dropping down, legs swinging, both legs bending, look a bit lower than 90 degrees
    • Land on one foot for hop and step, land on both legs for jump/land
  • Sprint Start:
    • Both knees bent down, back knee behind, forward knee at the front
    • Knees behind arms, arms shoulder width apart, fingers behind the starting line, head looking down
    • Push legs forward, face up, push body to run
    • Face forward, sprint to keep the pace, arms at 90 degrees
  • Sprint:
    • Sprint start, head look forward, shoulder relax behind the white line
    • Ready to start sprint, acceleration, leaning slightly forward
    • Hands going up & down, drive your hands, running with big steps, look forward, drive your legs
    • Speed, reaction time
  • Long Distance:
    • Keep both arms facing forward, lift your back leg for support, swing arms to balance
    • Keep arms by your side, leading leg back, other leg straight and on the ground, heads up eyes forward, bend arms towards the front
    • Push supporting leg back, swing back leg forward, swing arm to the side, keep eyes forward, keep back straight
    • Leading leg touches the ground, swing arms back and forward to balance
  • Hurdles:
    • Drive body forward for more momentum
    • Look towards the location you are going with focus
    • Right foot in 96-98 degree angle, left leg high and close to chest, back slumped slightly forward
    • Jump stomp the floor with power
    • Left/right foot go first, back raised higher after jumping, left leg ready to land and continue to jump, right arm drooped down slightly
    • Arms raised to counterbalance, foot in 90 degree angle, head still while running, right/left leg push off the ground
    • Speed, reaction time
