  • Tobacco Control - part of the WHO's aim of uplifting international public health, the agency approved and released its first global public health treaty
  • Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) - enforced last 2005 and was considered to be widely adopted treaty in the UN system with 180 participants
  • FCTC - aims to protect the present and future generations from the devastating health, social, environmental, and economic consequences of tobacco consumption and exposure to tobacco smoke.
  • Article 5.3 - declares the protection of public health policies with respect to tobacco control from commercial and other vested interests of the tobacco industry
