Resonance of Sound

• Resonance is the tendency of a system to vibrate at maximum amplitude at certain frequencies.
• When resonance is combined with a like frequency, it causes the amplitude to increase.
• Musical instruments use resonance to increase the intensity and volume of sound.
• e.g. One violin playing is not as loud as two playing the exact same notes
