3 Federal Government Branches

• The Legislative branch is the Congress, which is made up of the Senate and the House of Representatives.
• The Judical Branch is the Supreme Court and it explains and interprets the laws and the constitution
• The executive branch is the branch of government that is responsible for implementing the laws and policies passed by the legislative branch.
• The Executive branch is headed by the President, who has the power to veto laws passed by congress
• The Supreme Court is the highest court in the land and is made up of 11 judges.
• The Supreme Court is the highest court in the United States and can declare acts of Congress or executive orders unconstitutional
• The President can declare war or send troops abroad without congressional approval under certain circumstances
• The President is the leader of the country and commands the military
• The Vice President is the president of the senate and becomes president if the president can no longer do the job
• Departments heads advice the president on issues and help carry out policies
• Independent Agencies help carry out policy or provide special services
