    stress alters the production of cytokines which is the protein which helps to heal wounds.
    this then has an impact on the immune system as wounds are not being healed properly due to stress
  • those who experience higher levels of stress will become more ill due to their immune system being suppressed and them not being able to fight off bacteria and illnesses
    • this can be seen in terms of physical illness or things such as persistent colds and headaches
