• Act 1 (1) - The Birling family are celebrating Gerald and Sheilas engagement. Everything seems well but Sheila suspects Gerald lost interest in her last summer
• Act 1 (2) - Arthur gives a speech to Eric and Gerald about business. He says every man should look after himself
• Act 1 (3) - Inspector Goole arrives and says a woman called Eva smith has committed suicide by drinking disinfectant. He starts to question the family one by one
• Act 1 (4) - It turn out Arthur Birling sacked Eva smith from his factory for striking in a protest against low wages
• Act 1 (5) - It is revealed that Sheila asked for Eva Smith to be sacked from the department store that she worked at
• Act 1 (6) - The inspector reveals to the audience that Eva Smith changed her name to Daisy Renton. Gerald appears shocked and Eric leaves
• Act 2 (1) - Although he wanted to keep it a secret, he reveals he spent last summer with Daisy Renton as his mistress
• Act 2 (2) - Gerald is upset, Sheila returns his ring and Gerald leaves
• Act 2 (3) - The inspector gets Sybil to confess he got her charity to reject Eva / Daisys appeal for help. It is also revealed she was pregnant at the time
• Act 2 (4) - Sybil then says she blames the father of Eva / Daisys child for her death
• Act 2 (5) - Sheila guesses that the father of the child is Eric
• Act 3 (1) - Eric returns. He knows that the Inspector has lead everyone to the conclusion that he is the father of Eva / Daisys child
• Act 3 (2) - He described how he met Eva Smith at a bar, and drunkenly raped her. He got her pregnant and stole money from his father office to support her
• Act 3 (3) - Eva / Daisy rejected the stolen money from Eric and turned to Sybils charity for help instead. Eric said Sybil caused her death by rejecting her request for help
• Act 3 (4) - The inspector reminds everyone that we ar all responsible for each other, and he warns unless everyone fixes, we will all face consequences, then leaves
• Act 3 (5) - Gerald returns having spoken to a police officer who doesnt recognize the name Goole. Birling calls and confirms there is no inspector Goole
• Act 3 (6) - Gerald calls the infirmary and confirms no one has been admitted for drinking disinfectant. Birling, Sybil and Gerald realise its all a hoax and relax
• Act 3 (7) - Sheila and Eric argue that they are all still guilty for treating someone that way, even if she isn't dead
• Act 3 (8) - The phone rings. Someone had just been admitted to the infirmary and an inspector is on his way to ask the Birlings some questions
