    Age is in increasingly large factor impacting election results, impacting not just impacting how likely a person is to vote, but also who they are most likely to vote.
    Evidence consistently suggests a pattern in the voting behaviour of older people - they are more likely to favour the policies of the Conservative Party such as lower taxation and anti-immigration. Where-as, younger voters tend to favour more liberal policies which support a collectivist approach, such as; free tuition, free bus travel, promotion of LGBTQIA+ Rights and fighting climate change.

    The 2024 General Election Results showed that 41% of 18-24 year olds voted labour.
    This is compared to only 22% of over 65 year olds, with this 20% difference highlighting the significance of age in swaying the voting behaviour of a person as certain policies and ideologies appeal to the needs of different ages.

    Therefore, age is a hugely significant factor in influencing the voting behaviour of people in the UK. An individuals age directly influences their political ideals and the way that they vote, which is evident in the fact that younger people are both less likely to turn-out at elections, and more likely to align with liberal ideas, in comparison to older voters who often exercise their right to vote but lean towards the right-wing policies.
