A clone is a genetically identical copy of the parent.
It is produced by mitosis rather than meiosis
Natural cloning in plants is asexual reproduction that occurs in plants.
It normally happens through a process called vegetative propagation
Plant growth occurs through mitosis and cell elongation.
Stem cells (areas of undifferentiated cells with the ability to differentiate into specialised cells) are found in parts of the plant called meristems.
How to take a cutting
Cut a shoot from a healthy plant/ healthy shoot.
Cut the stem at a slant.
Make the cut between nodes (not at a meristem).
Dip the cut shoot in rooting powder (auxin hormone) before planting.
Remove leaves close to the cut.
Place in soil and add water/ keep well watered
.Place a plastic bag or plastic cover over for the first few days to reduce water loss through transpiration.
