From 1950's onwards social class & amateur & professional split slowly broke down. Amateurs were in many sports eg cricket & rugby which began involving working class.
Amaetur split in the south to play rugby union, professional working class played rugby league in northern towns. In 1996 the union game turned professional.
Minium wage was introduced in 1999 which lead to an increase in income. Therefore increases spectatorship, quality of athletes and increase opportunities to play different sports.
Paris olympics 1900 was the ifrst olympics females could partiipate in.
In 1980 female was elected to the international olympic comittee (IOC).
In 1997 the IOC insisted that any new olympic sport must include male & female participation.
State schools were set up in pre 1965 which are grammar schools, secondary modern schools, secondary technical schools. Comprehensive schools were introduced in 1965.
Transport was more accessible. Both public and private transport began to be more available. This led to an increase in participation and spectatorship international competitions were more popular & more frequent due to planes.
