  • a position paper is also sometimes called a point of view paper similar to a debate this type of paper takes one side of an argument about a certain issue and present such argument in organized manner
  • select the topic think of a topic that interests you and establish the arguability of such issue
  • do your research while you may already have your own opinion about the topic it is best to do first and dance of research to make sure that you are knowledgeable enough to voice out an argument scholarly articles newspapers statistics government reports book etc
  • formulate a thesis statement that assess your claims or position about an issue deciding which side to take and writing down your thesis statement will give your direction to your paper
  • organize the structure of your paper start with an outline take of an introduction that will catch should the reader's interest make sure that you state your thesis and the introduction so that the readers know your position on the issue right away
