• People thought disease was a punishment from God from sinning so prayed and repented hoping to be treated.
• Many thought witches caused outbreaks of disease so witch trials and executions were performed.
• Disease was believed to have been caused by evil spirits that lived inside the ill so members of the Church held exorcisms.
• Doctors used almanacs (showed the positions of the planets and stars) to diagnose patients depending on where they were affected and the star sign.
