Fabric - is made from fibers that may either be natural or synthetic
The 3 Types of fabrics are - Natural Fabrics, Silk and Wool and Synthetic Fibers (rayon, nylon and polyester)
Natural Fabrics - come from plants, Examples are cotton and linen
Silk and Wool - come from animals
Synthetic fibers - are artifically produced with the use of chemicals, Examples are rayon, nylon and polyester
Threads - come from fiber that may be natural or synthetic
Threads are classified according to texture, number and letter and sold in different forms
The higher the number, the finer the thread. Thread marked with letters stands for A-fine thread and D-thicker thread
Fasteners - are devices used to easily close and open the openings or different garments.
Examples are: zippers, buttons, snaps and hook and eyes
Fabric Preperations: Soaking, Drying, Straightening and Pressing
Soaking - fabrics and immersed in a basin of water before cutting to ensure that they will neither shrink nor fade
Drying - Fabrics are hung and dried after soaking
Straightening - the lengthwise and crosswise grain lines of the fabric are checked if the threads run parallel to eachother. If not, straighten the fabric by pulling and stretching until arment and selvaged are balanced
Pressing - fabrics are ironed after straightening
