  • Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. - 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
  • So faith, hope, love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is love. - 1 Corinthians 13:13
  • Four Types of Love:
    • Eros: Physical Love, Sexual Love, "I Love You because you are beautiful"
    • Philia: Friendly Love, "I Love You because you are my friend"
    • Storge: Familial Love, "I Love You because the same blood flows in our veins"
    • Agape: Unconditional Love, "I LOVE YOU"
  • Sacrament of Matrimony:
    • "So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, no human being must separate." - Matthew 19:6
    • "Wives should be subordinate to their husbands as to the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ loved the church and handed himself over for her." - Ephesians 5:22,25
  • The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament.
  • A Marriage centered on Christ manifests the love of Christ for his Church. It is an Intimate Partnership of life and love, a lifelong commitment and union which begins on the wedding day and gradually grows and deepens as the couple lives together. The identity and equality of man and woman are retained.
  • The Couple is the Minister of the Sacrament of Matrimony. The Matter is the Wedding Vows. The Form is "I take thee as my wife... for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, 'til death do us part." The Vows are promises each partner in a couple makes to the other.
  • The Ring is a symbol of love and faithfulness forever.

    The Arrhae is presented by the Groom as a symbol of his commitment being the head of the family to provide for their welfare.

    The Bible is handed over to the couple to remind them that God's word is a part of their union.

    The Veil signifies the union of the two people being clothed as one, with the veil worn over the bride's head to signify "submission" to the groom.

    The Cord symbolizes the bond of marriage, with the couple being tied as one to remain as one forever. The Candle symbolizes God's presence in their union or marriage.
  • Marriage is not just a ceremony but a real path to holiness by faithful love. The couple should sustain each other in grace through their lives and form their children in Christian truth and evangelical virtues. Fidelity is faithfulness to a person, cause, or belief, demonstrated by continuing loyalty and support.
