  • The 1569 revolt of the northern earls and the 1571 ridolfi plot provided evidence that mary queen of scotts was a danger to elizabeth . This contribuited to mary execution because it highlighted that the english catholic nobles were prepared to overthrow elizabeth therefore elizabeth could not count on their loyalty so she needed to irradicate their cause (putting mary on the throne )

This contribuited to marys execution as mary was directly involved in the plot therefore she was she was actively plotting against queen elizabeth and could not be trusted
  • 3. the assination of the dutch protestant ruler, william of orange made elizabeths government even more worried about catholic attacks that could be supported by spain. these fears were confirmed with the by the 1586 babington plot that had been approved by mary. this contribuited to mary execution as the babington plot was very similar to the successful assination of william of orange so elizabeth knew she was in grave danger
