Agriculture

• 30 % of the landmass is used for Agriculture, three quarters of that is for cattle ranching
• 25% of the landmass is used for arable farming: Soya beans, rice, corn, wheat, cotton, coffee and fruits.
• Brazil is the 2nd largest producers of Soya in the world. It is mainly harvested in the South.
• Brazil is the largest exporter of Sugar Cane in the world. It is utilised for both food and Ethanol (biofuel) which is used by half the cars in the country.
• Brazil are the second largest cattle ranchers in the world. The Amazon Basin has rich grassy plains.
• Brazil accounts for half the beef that the EU consumes. In the last 10 years, its production has doubled.
• Brazil is the largest Producer of poultry in the world. Around 13 million tonnes a year. 69 % (nice) is sold domestically and 31 % is sold internationally.
• There are almost 20 million poeple employed in agriculture
