  • Manager- someone who has , as a result of appointment to a particular role or position legitimate power to do that role
  • Leader- Someone who emerges and their ability to lead other people that comes from their personality rather than their formal position
  • Authoritarian leadership style- The leader makes all decisions without consulting others, this is suitable when time is short and decision making needs to be fast, also if employees have little experience or knowledge about the task at hand.
  • Laissez faire leadership style- The leader gives freedom to make decisions to subordinates, this is suitable when employees are experienced and capable of working independently, also when the workload is low and deadlines aren't tight.
  • Democratic Leadership Style- Leader consults with subordinates on important issues, this is suitable when team members need to feel involved and motivated, also when the issue requires input from everyone affected.
  • Paternalistic Leadership- Treating workers as family members, so managers make decision believed to be in the best interest of the workforce
  • Situational Leadership- Leaders change and adapt their approach in response to different situations and circumstances
  • Scientific thinking- Using logical and evidence-based approaches to solve problems and make informed choices
  • Intuitive thinking- making decision based on feelings and emotions.
