Family Dysfunction

• There is empirical Evidence for family dysfunction such as double bind theory.

  Read et al reported on results of 46 studies and found in 69% of cases females diagnosed with schizophrenia  a history of physical and sexual abuse in childhood the figure was 59% with males so supporting family dysfunction.
• Another problem with this approach is it blames the parents which is wrong. An increase in biological understanding and community care and treatment has led to the decline of this approach
