• section 8 of the theft act 1968

  a person is guilty of robbery if he steals and immediately before or at the time of doing so and in order to do so he uses force on any person or puts or seeks to put any person in fear of being then and there subjected to force
• section 9 of the theft act 1968 creates the offence of burglary

  a person is guilty of burglary if

  9.1.a he entre any building or part of a building as a trespasser with intent to steal anything in the building or part of the building or inflict GBH on any person there in do unlawful damage to the building or anything therein

  9.1.b having entered the building or part of a building as a trespasser he steals or attempts to steal anything in the building or that part part of it or inflicts or attempts to inflict on any person therein any grevious bodily harm
• motor vehicle

  a mechanically propelled vehicle intended or adapted for use on roads
• mechanically propelled vehicle

  a MPV is a vehicle constructed so that it can be propelled mechanically by internal combustion engine, steam, electricity
• section 59 of the police reform act 2002

  59.1. where constable in uniform has reasonable grounds for believing that a motor vehicle is being or has been used on any occasion in a manner which

  A) contravenes section 3 or 34 of the road traffic act 1988 (careless and inconsiderate driving and prohibition of off road driving) AND

  b) is causing or is likely to cause alarm, distress, or annoyance to members of the public
• he shall have the power to

  59.3.a order the person driving to stop the vehicle

  59.3.b seize and remove the vehicle

  59.3.c enter any premises on which he has reasonable grounds to believe the motor vehicle to be

  59.3.d use reasonable force if necessary to do any of 59(3)(A-C) above
• 59.4 a constable shall not seize a motor vehicle in the exercise of the powers conferred on him by this section unless

  A. he has warned the person appearing to him to be the person whose use falls within subsection that he will seize if it that use continues or is repeated; and

  B. it appears to him that the use he has continued or been repeated after the warning
