Tropical storms

• Ocean surface temperature of at least 27°C
• Water depth 60-70m where water provides moisture and gives energy
• Between 5° and 30° north and south of the equator
• Seasons they occur in:

  Late summer

  Early autumn
• The eye of the storm is very calm
• Tropical storms have doubled in the last 100 years
• Since 1995, they've been more frequent and intense
• Due to global warming, the surfaces of tropical oceans have warmed by 0.5°C in the last few decades
